SmartWatch is an automated asset and gate management application for transportation facilities with several dozen to several thousand trucks, tractors, trailers, dollies, and other rolling assets. SmartWatch allows the user to instantly perform accurate asset, gate, and equipment inventory checks.
The user accesses a screen to monitor and control real-time gate activity, perform database maintenance, and generate reports. The user easily enters, deletes, or modifies detailed equipment information in a Microsoft Access-compatible database.
Operating in fully automatic mode using radio frequency identification (RFID) SmartPass® readers, SmartWatch continually monitors arrivals, departures, and manual equipment moves. The reader sends information from tagged equipment entering or leaving the facility via an RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 connection. The program continuously monitors the readers, validates tags, opens gates, and updates the yard inventory database as tagged equipment approaches the RFID readers.
For customers with multiple SmartWatch sites, SmartWatch II is a supervisor (server) application that maintains synchronized fleet and gate management data and provides central maintenance of one or more SmartWatch satellite stations with RFID readers. It allows for managing the databases of multiple remote SmartWatch locations from a single host.
SmartWatch II does not directly control gates or readers, but rather collects data from SmartWatch clients. SmartWatch II provides the capacity to centrally gather gate and asset-management event data and centrally administer the fleet data used by the gate management stations. Transactions from SmartWatch client locations and database updates from the host are updated automatically in real time.
SmartWatch implementation may start with stand-alone gate and inventory management in a single location and, as operations grow, additional sites can be added and integrated with SmartWatch II for central control and monitoring.
