RFID Ready-To-Go Evaluation Kit
- Samples of labels and tags to support tests of pallet and
carton tracking applications
- A fixed RFID reader system, designed and packaged for easy
movement around your facility to evaluate possible uses
- A handheld barcode/RFID reader system, connected to an Intermec®
700 Series Color Mobile Computer to demonstrate how to bridge
the two data collection technologies
- Software configured for a simple demonstration showing how
RFID is used to facilitate tracking cartons and pallets that
move between “unconnected” facilities. The demonstration
can be run with the included simulation database or with an
ODBC database.
- Services of an Intermec Systems Consultant, trained and certified
in RFID, for one full day on site, including travel in the continental
US, to set the kit up and demonstrate its use, and provide training
for your staff on future customization.
- Training on how to connect other equipment, including external
presence detectors, printers, message boards, and audible alarms
to the hardware and software contained in the kit.
To facilitate companies’ transition from current product
labeling conventions utilizing traditional bar codes to one or
more of the proposed coding conventions utilizing RFID, Intermec
is offering the RFID Ready-To-Go Intellitag® Pallet/Carton
RFID Evaluation Kit. This kit will enable users to create an RFID
pilot in their own facility in a matter of hours versus weeks
or months.
With its large, multiple-field read/write memory, Intermec’s
Intellitag technology can simultaneously support ePC, GTIN, UPC
content, and Advance Shipping Notice reference codes, as well
as original manufacturer and distributor-unique codes in each
tag, delivering the user the ultimate flexibility to adapt as
current and future standards evolve.
In addition to tag and label samples and a fixed position reader,
a handheld barcode/RFID reader is also included in the kit, providing
a convenient and practical way to perform exception based scanning,
a reality in any distribution environment. The user may also deploy
the handheld reader along with the mobile computer included in
the kit to write or rewrite data to tags, thereby harnessing one
of the maximum advantages of RFID technology.
Intellitag RFID-certified Intermec partners and Intermec Professional
Services provide additional education, site survey, process re-engineering
consulting, and project management services to enable companies
to be piloting Intellitag RFID in a matter of hours as opposed
to weeks.
Intermec understands that RFID implementation will rarely take
place in a “bare building”, but must be adapted to
fit existing infrastructure. Where upgrades are needed, Intermec
and its partners supply wired and wireless network equipment and
services. Because bar codes will continue to be the best data
carrier for some applications, Intermec supplies printers, scanners,
and a wide range of media to accommodate any application.
Following the successful path laid with barcode technology, Intermec
is firmly committed to standards-based technology systems. The
technology behind Intermec Intellitag supports all relevant adopted
and emerging national and international standards including:
- ISO/IEC 18000 Part 6 - RFID Air Interface standard for item
management at UHF
- ISO/IEC 15961 & 15962 - Information interface for object
orientated use of RFID in item management
- ANS INCITS 256:2001 - American RFID standard for item management
- ISO 18185 - RFID for electronic seal tags
- ISO 23389 - Freight containers – read/write radio-frequency
identification
- EAN.UCC - Application standards for the use of RFID in the
macro-supply chain, including the EPC code initiative from the
- Auto-ID Center at MIT
- ANS MH10.8.4 - ANSI application standard for RFID on reusable
plastic containers
- ANS AIAG B-11 - Application standard for tire and wheel identification
